The New Zealand Rugby Union have opened discussions to get Aaron Mauger and Carl Hayman back to New Zealand in 2010.

Both Mauger and Hayman are currently playing in England for Guinness Premiership clubs and were approached by All Blacks assistant coach Wayne Smith on the end of year tour.

Both players come off contract with their English clubs at the end of the current European season and General Manager of Professional Rugby in New Zealand Neil Sorensen told reporters that the process of getting them back in New Zealand has started.

Sorensen said that although they have not got as far as offering the pair contracts he did say that both players are considering a return to New Zealand this year and could be back in New Zealand before the start of this years Air New Zealand Cup.

The European regular season finishes in May which means that they would both miss the Super 14 but could become eligible to play for New Zealand's All Blacks in the 2011 Rugby World Cup by playing the Super 15 which starts in 2011.
